FUNDS FOR THE COMMUNITY CENTER

We are grateful for the support shown by our community in 2006, when we raised nearly $50,000 with our seed money campaign and the special Labor Day weekend events. This amount allowed us to pay for the architects and consultants working on our plan, and for the analysis of the hazardous materials present in the house.

Even though the project has been largely in "wait mode" since that time, while the Probate Court petition process took place, several unsolicited donations have arrived. These being added to the funds left over from the work of 2006, we had enough money to manage the roofing repairs and reshingling now, and to make a start toward raising the remainder needed for the renovation.

We anticipate starting a community-based fundraising effort in the coming few months; we know it may well take quite some time to raise the requisite funds in this time of economic uncertainty, but with a new roof protecting the building we will be able to take as many months and years as we need.
